Gasket-mounted 75% keyboard

Kern 75

Nine layers. One sound.

Overview

The sound of a keyboard is decided under the keycaps.

So we built this page the way we built the board: nothing hidden. Keep scrolling and it comes apart.

Construction

Nine layers, each with a job.

Foam removes the hollow ring. Gaskets let the plate flex under your fingers. Brass adds weight low down, where it steadies the whole case.

Inside one key

Six parts decide how every press feels.

Tactile and quiet. A soft bump tells you the key registered, with no click.

Built for the long sessions

Quiet enough for a sleeping house. Solid enough that you stop thinking about it.

Materials

Machined, not moulded.

The case is cut from a single billet of 6063 aluminium, then bead-blasted and anodised. The keycaps are double-shot PBT, so the legends never wear off.

Brown suits shared rooms and long typing. Blue is louder and has a sharper click.

Does it work with a Mac?
